Post-Gazette High School Sports Writer Mike White talks with Kittanning wide receiver/linebacker Nick Bowers. Click here to read his story.
It's not often Kittanning boasts a player mentioned among the WPIAL's best. But that's what you have with Bowers, who has added 25 pounds since last season. He plays receiver in Kittanning's no-huddle offense and caught 53 passes a year ago for a school-record 846 yards. He rushed for 314 yards on 48 attempts and also led the team in tackles from his linebacker spot. He helped Kittanning to its first undefeated regular season since 1976. With a number of starters back from last year, things are looking good again at Kittanning. This will be the final year of the school. It will close in June and merge with Ford City to form Armstrong High School. Bowers' father, Brad, is a Kittanning assistant and Brad's brother, Curt, was the quarterback on the 1976 team.
