A look at the five starters and coach of the 2007 Schenley Spartans and what they are doing now.


DeJuan Blair, 6-7, Sr. F — One of only two players in the past three decades to make the Post-Gazette Fabulous 5 three times. Went on to become an All-Amercian at Pitt and played seven years in the NBA with San Antonio, Dallas and Washington. Is now playing in the NBA D-League with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, who are owned by the Los Angeles Lakers.

D.J. Kennedy, 6-6, Sr. G-F — Smooth southpaw for Schenley who went on to a very successful career at St. John's, where he finished 12th on the school's all-time scoring list, 11th in rebounding, fifth in 3-pointers and sixth in steals. Played two games with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers in 2012 and has had success playing overseas the past few years. Currently averaging 24 points for a team in the Chinese Basketball Association."


Boys Basketball: Allderdice qualifies for PIAA playoffs, Obama falls short

For the fourth year in a row, Allderdice will be going dancing in the PIAA playoffs. The Dragons solidified their spot with a 50-39 win against Altoona in the Class 6A subregional championship Friday night at Obama Academy.

Senior Jahi Ogbonna scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the second half to lead the Dragons (18-8).

Allderdice was able to break open the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mountain Lions, 13-5, to take a 27-16 lead at the half. Mike Scharf had a game-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Altoona (11-13).

Allderdice — a PIAA finalist a year ago — will face the Class 6A No. 4 seed from the WPIAL in the first round of the PIAA playoffs next Saturday.


Boys Basketball: Allderdice, Obama shoot for PIAA playoff berths

It took three overtimes to decide a winner between Allderdice and Obama Academy in the City League championship game.

It will take one more win for each of them to qualify for the PIAA playoffs.

State playoff berths will be on the line tonight when City League champion Allderdice and runner-up Obama take part in subregional championship games. Allderdice (17-8) takes on Altoona (11-12) in a Class 6A game at Obama at 7 p.m. Obama (13-9) plays Erie Cathedral Prep (12-12) in a 5A game at Allderdice at 7 p.m.

Allderdice reached the PIAA 4A title game last season. The Dragons beat Erie McDowell, 62-44, in a subregional semifinal last Friday to advance to tonight's game. Altoona lost to State College, 73-47, in the District 6 championship.
