Basketball: Former Schenley standout signs with Wizards

DeJuan Blair is headed to Washington.

The former Pitt and Schenley star was acquired by the Washington Wizards Wednesday in a sign-and-trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

Blair, a five-year NBA veteran, was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in 2009 and played his first four seasons there before joining the Dallas Mavericks last season. He averaged 6.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game with Dallas. Blair, a 6-foot-7 center, accumulated those numbers despite playing just 15.6 minutes per game.

For his career, Blair has averaged 7.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
