Written by Brad Everett on .

D.J. Kennedy began to make a name for himself on the basketball court years ago in the Hill District.

Kennedy now finds himself trying to prove himself in Israel.

According to Eurobasket.com, Kennedy recently signed with Hapoel Holon, a team in the Israel Basketball Super League. The club is based in the city of Holon. The league is the top division of Israeli basketball.

Kennedy, a 2007 Schenley graduate, had a fine career at St. John's followed by a two-year stint in the NBA's D-League. After being cut by the Dallas Mavericks last summer, Kennedy played for a team in France. He then signed with a team in Russia, but shortly after decided to go to Israel.

Kennedy played on the outstanding 2007 Schenley team that won the PIAA Class AAAA championship. Other members of that team included DeJuan Blair, Jamaal "Onion" Bryant, DeAndre Kane and Greg Blair.
