Track: Allderdice freshman has a golden performance

Written by Brad Everett on .

Allderdice's Sophia North may only be a freshman, but that didn't stop her from making a big impact at last week's City League championships.

North shined at the event held at Oliver High School, taking top honors in the high jump and triple jump. She was one of only two freshmen -- boys or girls -- to win an individual title and one of three girls to win multiple titles.

North leaped 4-7 in the high jump. Allderdice teammate Gianna Griffin placed second with a jump of 4-6. North's winning triple jump was 29-4 ¾. Allderdice's LaiJour Knight was second after jumping 28-10 ¾. North also competed in the long jump and finished fourth. Brashear's Rayshell Brown claimed the win.
