Football: Former Allderdice star signs with Bengals

Written by Brad Everett on .

Allderdice graduate Will Clarke recently signed a rookie contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Clarke, who also starred at West Virginia University, agreed to a four-year contract with the Bengals, who selected him in the third round of last month's NFL Draft.

A 6-foot-6, 271-pound defensive end, Clarke hopes to use his speed and long arms to make an impact for a defense that is expected to be very good.

Clarke had a terrific senior season at West Virginia, leading the Mountaineers with six sacks and 17 tackles for loss. He was second in the Big 12 Conference in tackles for loss and sixth in sacks. Clarke was an All-Big 12 second-team honoree.

For his career, Clarke had 111 tackles - 28.5 for loss - and nine sacks.

Clarke's father, Bill, was a star basketball player at Fifth Avenue High School and Duquesne University.
