Girls Basketball: Allderdice's Fordham named to all-state team

Written by Brad Everett on .

Players and coaches in the City League have known about Sierra Fordham for quite some time now.

The rest of the state has apparently taken notice, as well.

Fordham, a senior guard at Allderdice, was named to the Associated Press Class AAAA all-state third-team today. The team is voted on by sports writers from around the state.

Fordham led the City League in scoring this season, pouring in 22.9 points per game. It marked the second season in a row Fordham was the City League scoring champion. She also led Allderdice to the City League championship game.

Fordham was the only City League girls player selected to any of the all-state teams, and joined a pair of WPIAL players on the Class AAAA team. Fox Chapel's Erin Mathias, a Duke recruit, was a first-team pick and was named Player of the Year. Penn-Trafford's Maria Palarino was a second-team selection.

Fordham will play in the Roundball Classic at Geneva College on April 12.
