Boys Golf: Allderdice's Lobel comes up short at PIAA championships

Allderdice boys golfer Sasha Lobel has seen his excellent season come to an end.

Lobel fell short in his attempt to win a PIAA Class individual title earlier this week at the championships held at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.

He shot an 11-over 82 in both the first and second rounds, giving him a 22-over 164 at the two-day event. Upper St. Clair's Grant Engel won the championship by shooting a 5-over 147.

Lobel, a junior, was the only City League golfer to qualify for the championships.

The tournament ended what was a terrific season for Lobel. He shot a 2-over 72 at Diamond Run Golf Club to place seventh at the WPIAL championships. That qualified him for the West Regional, where he fired a 4-over 76 at Tom's Run Golf Course to finish in a tie for sixth place. That effort advanced him to the PIAA championships.
