Football: Allderdice grad shining at West Virginia

Written by Brad Everett on .

At 6-foot-7, 273 pounds, Will Clarke is always one of the biggest players on the field.

This season, his contributions to the West Virginia football team have been just as big.

Clarke, an Allderdice graduate, is having a fine season for the Mountaineers. A senior defensive end and team captain, Clarke leads the Mountaineers with three sacks and 5.5 tackles for losses.

Clarke had two sacks in West Virginia's 37-0 loss to Maryland last week. The Mountaineers (2-2) host Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Heading into this season, Clarke had played in 29 career games, starting 22 of them.

Clarke's father, Bill, was a star basketball player who played at Fifth Avenue High School and later at Duquesne University.
