Hockey: Local hockey players drafted by NAHL

Written by Keith Barnes on .

Keith Barnes profiles the local players recently selected in the North American Hockey League Draft.

"Liam Walsh and Jordan Timmons cut their teeth playing high school hockey in the PIHL.

Recently both were among three area players — Stephen Rex of Peters Township being the third — who were taken in the annual North American Hockey League draft.

Though each was appreciative of being taken, both had the same answer when it came to reporting to their respective teams.

Thanks, but no thanks.

"It's nice to be drafted by them and it's nice that they showed interest, but my goal is, obviously, to be in the USHL again next year," Walsh said. "Growing up you hear that the USHL is the top junior league in the U.S. and it drives kids even from other countries. It's better scouted by colleges and the NHL."
