Mike White has this week's Xtra Points Notebook.
"I was standing in Gateway High School's press box many years ago, talking to a few people, when someone asked me how my three sons were doing. Pete Antimarino was standing nearby and overheard.
"Holy heck, Whitey, you have three sons?" cracked Antimarino. "I sure hope you're a better father than you are a sports writer."
I could only laugh. It was vintage Pete.
That moment, that Antimarino quip is one of the lasting memories I have of the man who hung up life's coaching whistle Saturday night, passing away at the age of 91. The term "legend" is sometimes thrown around too often in the sports world. But it truly belongs next to the name of Walter A. Antimarino, the man who was known to everyone as just "Pete.""
