In his latest high school notebook, Post-Gazette writer Mike White writes about Root Sports television releasing its WPIAL football broadcast schedule, and reports that Sto-Rox quarterback Lenny Williams will miss the first few weeks of the season while he recovers from a hand injury. "Root Sports television will again air Thursday night WPIAL football games.
Some will be televised live and some on tape delay after Pirates or Penguins games. The games start Sept. 5 with a live broadcast of Seneca Valley at Pine-Richland.
The Thursday games feature some of the WPIAL's top teams and players. The rest of the schedule:
Sept. 12, Neshannock at Sto-Rox (tape delayed); Sept. 26, Washington at Jeannette; Oct. 3, West Mifflin vs. Elizabeth Forward (tape delayed); Oct. 10, Blackhawk at Montour; Oct. 17, Hampton at Franklin Regional (tape delayed); Oct. 24, McKeesport at Gateway."
