Baseball: 2013 Class AAA Playoff Picture

The WPIAL playoff field has been completed in Class AAA. Seventeen teams have qualified, including two extra team due to ties for third place. The WPIAL Baseball Steering Committee will meet Thursday to determine the brackets.

Section 1-AAA - Hopewell (9-1) claimed the section title. West Allegheny (6-4) and Blackhawk (6-4) tied for second place.

Section 2-AAA - Indiana (10-2) won the section crown. Derry (7-5) and Yough (7-5) tied for second place.

Section 3-AAA - Chartiers Valley (8-2) and Keystone Oaks (8-2) tied for the section title and split their two section games. South Fayette (6-4) and Trinity (6-4) tied for third place and split their section games, thus both qualify.

Section 4-AAA - South Park (12-0) won the section title and at 20-0 overall is the only unbeaten team in the Class AAA bracket. Thomas Jefferson (8-4) placed second. Elizabeth Forward (7-5) and Belle Vernon (7-5) tied for third place and split their section games, thus both qualify.

Section 5-AAA - Hampton (10-0) won the section title. Mars (8-2) and Knoch (6-4) are the other qualifiers.
