The WPIAL playoff field has been completed in Class A. Thirteen teams have qualified, and maybe one more. The WPIAL Softball Steering Committee will meet Thursday to determine the brackets.
Section 1-A - Burgettstown (13-1) won the section title. Sto-Rox (11-2) and Bishop Canevin (9-4) also qualified, but still have a make-up game today at Meyer-Middleton Complex in Crafton. If Bishop Canevin loses, the Crusaders tie with Sewickley Academy (9-5) for third place, and both would qualify. Sewickley Academy is out if Bishop Canevin wins.
Section 2-A - Carmichaels (13-1) and Frazier (13-1) tied for the section title and split their section games. Serra Catholic (9-5) is the other qualifier.
Section 3-A - Jeannette (10-2) and Leechburg (10-2) tied for the section title, but Jeannette beat Leechburg twice in section play. Riverview (8-4) and Vincentian Academy (8-4) tied for third, and both qualify as they split in section play.
Section 4-A - Neshannock (14-0) was the only Class A champ to go unbeaten in section play. South Side Beaver (11-3) and Shenango (11-3) tied for second and split in their section matches.
